Sun's Numerical Computation Guide has an extensive introduction to floating point, the IEEE-754 spec, and Sun's standard math libraries.
"What Every Computer Scientist Should Know About Floating Point Arithmetic" is a 78-page article that contains more detail than you probably knew existed about floating point math.
Two ftp sites with numerous MPM libraries, papers, and related materials are: William Kahan is a professor at the University of Berkeley, and has several publications on his Web site related to floating point issues. (In particular, see his paper "How Java's Floating-Point Hurts Everyone Everywhere" for an interesting take on the subject.)
