If you need further information on the Apache Web server, there are several resources available. The version 2.2 documentation is online. Helpful Web sites include Apache Lounge and ONLamp.com's Apache DevCenter.

To post questions to other programmers, you can subscribe to the official mailing list.

O'Reilly Media currently publishes eight books dedicated to Apache.

Once you have Apache installed and configured on your local development PC, it will undoubtedly become an essential part of your Web programming environment.

I've used XAMPP before which seemed easy to use and worked perfectly.

You can save a lot of time and install Apache, PHP, MySQL together in just a few clicks. There is a great comparison of WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP) packages: [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_WAMPs]Comparison of WAMPs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/url]
Some of them are very simple. For example, using [url]http://www.witsuite.com/product/installer/[/url] (my favorite) you can install Apache, MySQL and PHP in a very few clicks. Watch the demo if you think that this is not possible :-)
