Creating a Vignette Effect in Photoshop

Photoshop Vignette Effect

In this Tutorial, I’m going to demonstrate a quick and
simple fade effect to an image.

1.) In Photoshop, Open image of your choice.

2.) Click on the Retangular Marquee tool (may be visible already) and draw a Selection at the points you would like the fade to take effect.

3.) Go to Select > Feather (Alt + Ctrl + D) Dialog box will appear. Enter a value. I used 10 pixels for this demo. Hit OK.

4.) Next, Go to Select > Invert Selection (Ctrl + Shift + I) and Hit Delete to remove border area. Now De-Select(Ctrl + D)(That’s all there is to it!)

5.) Create a layer, Layer > New and fill it with a color of your choice. (Be sure to move it under the new image layer).

Tip: At this point you may add a colored frame to show off your new masterpiece. Choose color from the Swatch palette, Select > All to create a border selection, Edit > Stroke and enter a value. Hit OK. De-Select (Ctrl + D).
