WordPress is a CMS that was built for blogging but many people have repurposed it for magazines, newspapers, blog networks and all sorts of other goodies! Let’s you set your own CSS style to use with the Comments section and the author about box.

In particular, it adds a “profiles” tab to the management section and allows you to easily edit information about the profiles as well as associate an image (with optional watermark) with each profile.

Hi There – Great list — a couple I have not used before. You might like to take a look at MaxRef Widgets plugin… it enables you to display multiple sidebar widgets to maximize how your visitors reference your posts, links, categories and comments. I concepted it and partnered up with Anthony Potgeiter to develop it… and we’re always looking for suggestions on how to improve it. Stop by and try it out. – Scott

However, there is no plugin which aloows users to add other users as friends? So wordpress only makes a community not a social network. However WordPress MU now works well with buddypress.
