New forms of data, the retention of additional detail for analysis, increasing pressure for high availability of more of the data, regulatory and security requirements – all are contributing to substantial rises in data volume. Organizations that learn to leverage the explosion of important new information sources can gain dramatic competitive advantage as others lag. Unfortunately, the budget for the acquisition of additional storage is not easy to come by, especially in the current financial environment.
