Monday, 8th October 2007
Published by:

Today, .NET technologies are being used for customer-facing, revenue generating applications, as well as for internal applications that are critical to business operations. However, these applications have become more distributed in nature, which increases management complexity.

Exacerbating the .NET application management problem is the aspect of change brought on by the following common activities involved with developing and deploying business critical applications:
  • Changes to existing applications that cause performance degradations and application failures
  • Diagnosing and resolving performance and availability problems in production
  • Application integration and consolidation projects that introduce the risk of performance degradations and application failures due to changes
  • Deploying new applications to production that have inadequate levels of pre-production testing
  • Frequent changes to the maturing .NET technology platform
